Utah Receives $96 Million for Environmental Conservation

The awards were announced on Friday, January 17 and posted on the Bureau of Reclamation, Upper Colorado Basin website. Funding for the awards comes from the Inflation Reduction Act to provide for river restoration and water supply projects for drought mitigation throughout the Colorado River Basin in Utah.

A total of $388.3 million in grant funding was announced by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation under the Upper Colorado River Basin System Conservation and Efficiency Program for environmental projects that mitigate the impacts of drought. Projects include
river restoration, removal of invasive plant species, providing instream flows for native and endangered fish, and improvements to aquatic and wildlife habitat. The funding was spread out across 42 projects in Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico. Over $96
million was dedicated to projects entirely within Utah along with another $64 million dedicated to projects with some portion of the work located in Utah.
