Marc K. Stilson
Principal Engineer
Marc K. Stilson has been selected as the Principal Engineer for the Colorado River Authority of Utah. He previously served for 18 years as the Regional Engineer for the Division of Water Rights. In this role, Marc was deeply involved in Colorado River water management, overseeing water rights regulations and implementing the State’s Colorado River policies. His work included assisting with negotiations for federal reserved water right settlements, notably for Arches National Park and the Navajo Nation.
As Regional Engineer, Marc worked through many complex water right application issues which involved many sensitive Colorado River issues. Marc also conducted numerous water rights consultations for the System Conservation Pilot Program (SCPP).
Marc’s expertise provided valuable ground-level insights to the Division of Water Rights' Colorado River team. Additionally, Marc was instrumental in the approval of Utah’s first Water Bank change application in the Price River basin, designed to provide environmental instream flows to the river. This change application allows conserved consumptive use to be shepherded downstream.
Marc earned his B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Brigham Young University in 1994 and is a registered Professional Engineer in Utah, as well as a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Outside of work, Marc enjoys hiking, camping, and exploring the stunning landscapes of Southeastern Utah. He and his wife, Korinda, originally from Indiana, have raised four sons and three daughters on a little patch of paradise in Orangeville, Utah
